Drivers/Firmware
In order to update your modem's drivers/firmware you must first obtain the make and model of your particular modem. To do this:
PCs
- Go to Start Menu
- Settings
- Control Panel
- Then double click on the modem icon
- From the list select the modem and hit properties
- This will display the name of your modem and the Manufacturer
Macs
- Go to Apple Menu
- Control Panel
- Modems
- Read the name of the modem displayed
Once you have obtained the make and model of your modem you will need to download the updates online. Updates will usually be found on the manufacturer website.
Because this is the latest in dial up connection technology, do not be discouraged if you cannot find driver updates right away. It may take manufacturers some time to adjust to this advancement. Check periodically for V.92 updates. (Note: Updating your modem's V.90 drivers is also important. If you cannot find the V.92 upgrade, take some time to download the latest V.90 upgrades.)
